I am a dynamic educator with over ten years of classroom experience in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and abroad. I am a firm advocate of Catholic education that provides students with equitable learning opportunities for their full success. I have what it takes to put students’ needs and interests first, as demonstrated by my exemplary teaching record. My students have regarded me as an inspirational and caring mentor, since I provided them with rich educational experiences. By setting high standards and instilling confidence in students, I have been able to set my students up for life-long success.
I have earned a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education (specializing in the administration of educational organizations) from the University of Ottawa. In addition to teaching, I have worked as a Catholic school vice-principal and mentored new teachers. This wealth of experience in educational leadership, has given me firsthand knowledge of school administration, and taught me how to work on a team of educational leaders. It has also made me appreciative of the essential services our support staff provide our students and the Board. Besides my experience in classrooms and school administration, I have a solid understanding of business administration and management of organizations, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Political Science and worked as a business manager.
I am an active member of Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Parish in Ward 77. As a practicing Catholic gentleman, I fully acknowledge that the task of authentically interpreting the Word of God is solely entrusted to the Catholic Church's Magisterium (The Pope and Bishops in communion with him), as clearly declared in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Also, I believe that building strong relationships between Catholic schools and parishes is crucial for sustaining the growth of the Catholic faith community in Edmonton. Finally, Given my educational and professional backgrounds, I believe that I have what it takes to serve Catholics and the residents of Ward 77 as a Catholic School Trustee.
My mission is to use the trusteeship as a means of fostering an all-inclusive learning environment rooted in the love of Christ. I will promote a system in which all members of a student’s educational life – parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, and trustees – work together to ensure that every student receives a first-rate education, with a strong foundation in the teachings of the Catholic faith. I will bring a new set of skills, experiences, knowledge, and a profound vision to the Catholic Board of Trustees in order to tackle the issues currently facing our school system.
